Performance Submissions

For its premiere event, NOGO Arts will showcase the work and words of the trans* community. Our umbrella moniker LGBTQ often seems to prioritize our experiences in that order, so we want to give time and space to the T in our collective initials. Trans* rights and visibility  have been increasingly under attack. Sadly, it may be because of this heightened antagonism that we as a larger community are starting to see our trans* friends and family. Under the simple title of transvisibility, NOGO Arts will produce an evening of performance featuring the work of trans* artists and their allies. We are seeking submissions from people working in dance, theater, spoken word, and other performance-based disciplines. Continue below for technical requirements/specifics and submit button.

• 15 minutes or less per piece
• Selected artists must provide their own props/costumes

Who looks at your work?

NOGO Arts brings together advisory panels for each of its calls to ensure that work is being evaluated by knowledgeable and appropriate individuals from the field.

To support our goal of expanding community and conversation, we also invite an ‘outside’ voice, someone who is not affiliated with the field, to join the advisory panel.

All submissions will be viewed in a timely manner, and all artists will receive notification within two weeks of the submission deadline with comments from the panel.

Submission Fee

NOGO Arts charges  a non-refundable $20 fee for each submission. Artists may submit more than one piece, but must pay a separate fee for each piece. We do not charge further fees. Submissions cannot be considered without this fee.

Critical generosity

Critical generosity is what it sounds like. In evaluating work, NOGO Arts commits itself to encountering work on its terms. That means that we will strive to let work speak for itself rather than assuming it speaks to us and our immediate aesthetic and editorial expectations.
