Todd J. Coulter

Todd is a performer, director, choreographer, and scholar.  His work often brings together physical theater and contemporary dance practices in conversation with gender and sexuality. He has work published in Contemporary Theatre ReviewDance ChronicleTheatre Journal, The International Journal for the Humanities and a book on Nobel laureate Gao Xingjian from Palgrave-Macmillan.

His collaborative work has been presented at Danspace Project, Space Gallery, the Performance Garage in Philadelphia, and at Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn. He teaches workshops and masterclasses with Alexandra Beller Dances. He has taught in the northeast at Colby College, Wesleyan University, and has been a guest artist at Princeton and Rutgers University.  He has also played cello with the Queer Urban Orchestra and occasionally with the Orchestra Amadeus, and now with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. He is currently serving as an Artistic Advisor as part of Gibney Dance’s Professional Training Program.
